VISION & MISSION
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness (Psalms 84:10).
Ushers are faithful and obedient servants who honor Christ through service to His children. The role of the Usher is that of a doorkeeper. The Usher greets and welcomes each member and guest as they enter the house of the Lord.
Ushers make those who have come to worship feel comfortable and serve with spiritual dignity during the Church service. The Usher Ministry is courteous, kind, and ensures orderly conduct during the worship service so that all who enter have a joyous worship service.
Everyone who enters into the House of the Lord is welcome. “Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.” – Romans 15:7
MISSION STATEMENT
The Ushers primary mission is to SERVE. The goal is to exemplify Christ and their Church through their service. Ushers serve the Lord by recognizing their spiritual gifts, and enthusiastically investing them into the ministry of the Church. They believe, “A true servant is loyal and obedient to the Master – even when it’s not convenient.”
PURPOSE
An usher is one who serves as an official doorkeeper; therefore, ushers escort disciples and guests to their seats as well as assist with any needs during the worship service. An usher is usually the first or second point of contact when someone enters the church, so it is important that all are greeted in love and with a “HOLY” smile. Since ushers give the first impression of their Pastor and Church family, they work especially hard to make sure that everyone feels welcome and at home.
If you have a servant’s heart and feel led to be a part of the iServe Ministries, please contact Divina Lopez or call the church office at (208) 459-9133 for further information.

Volunteer opportunities are organized into 5 iServe Teams; Student Ministries, Children’s Ministries, Guest Services, Campus Support, and Production. On the page to the right you’ll notice a link for iServe Ministry Opportunities, click the link and it will take you to the corresponding list of opportunities that exist.
How do I begin serving?
Each individual entry point may look and feel a little different depending on the iServe opportunities you decide to explore. Some opportunities require advance registration while many simply let you just “show up.” Regardless of the process involved, the important thing is to get started. Complete information is listed with each opportunity when you search online. If you are still unsure what your next step should be, feel free to stop by “Welcome Center” before or after services and we will be delighted to help you.
What is expected of me?
Expectations will vary from role to role, however you can rest assured there is a process in place to ensure that you are equipped and trained. Every role has an assigned team leader whose responsibility is to set you up to win. The most important thing you can do is to show up and be ready to go when you say you will. Should you ever have any questions about what is expected of you be sure to talk with your team leader. Good, open communication is the best method to ensure the serving opportunity is a good fit for both you and the ministry.
What is the time commitment?
This is the true beauty of iServe Ministry. You can tailor your serving to fit your schedule and your season of life. If schedule is a primary factor in the selection of your serving role, each iServe role has a time requirement associated so you can find an opportunity that fits your schedule.
Is there a place at Valley Church for me to volunteer?
